your favorite bass lines

Re: your favorite bass lines

It's hard to stick my favorite lick, but it'd probably come from Tim Commerford from Rage against the Machine. That guy made some fierce lines and wasn't afraid to either let dynamics and definition shine through, or jam his foot into a fuzz wah. He held up the bottom end and rhythm while Tom Morello was bippitybooping around excellently a'la Bill Wyman.
Ben Shepard from Soundgarden also holds out in this spot too. Super-thick sounding.
Actually, the bassline from 1:55 of Rusty Cage rates way up there for me.

Come Together by the Beatles, Billy Jean, Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione, Breezin' by George Benson, and Miss You by the Stones. Maybe add Victor Wooten's bass playing in Isn't She Lovely and I Wish. And maybe Steely Dan's Josie.

Props also to Chuck Berghofer, who played in unison with Carol, and slid that acoustic bass down... sexy.

As funky as his various bands have been, we've got to show love for Bootsy Collins!
