Your First Guitar?

Re: Your First Guitar?

An Audition 335 copy (sort of). Sh!t action, sh!t pickups, sh!t sound, **** frets, sh!t quality. I absolutely loved it - for the first 6 months!!! :laugh2:

Re: Your First Guitar?

A yamaha double fat strat that was painted an ungodly (but cool at the time) black sparkle finish.

I've since re-finished it completely, and it's still one of my favorite axes.

Re: Your First Guitar?

The first acouctic I had cost £5.00 and was totaly unplayable, bought for my 14 birthday in 1964 I tried so hard but only ever got out of tune cords the action was about 1/4 inch at the frist fret and nearly put me of for ever.
Then with almost my first pay packet in 66' I saw in a second hand shop A RED STRAT copy but it was £14.00 and I was only earning £4.00 a week. Each week I would go and look to see if it was still there..... By the time I had the money I wanted that Guitar so bad..... It was still there so I handed over my My 14 Quid and the guy said "this goes with it" and gave me a little Elpico amp. The amp was crap, but I had my Fenton Weill Red Strat copy that I'll never part with I learnt myself to play on that guitar and so did my son thirty years later(but I paid for lessons with him). The amp oh that went in the bin:kabong: never could get any tone or volume out of it.

my first guitar was a fender standard strat in lake placid blue, that i still have completely stock (1998)
my first amp was a marshal vs30 combo. that was a piece of crap. (1998)

Re: Your First Guitar?

First Guitar - an Epiphone Electric, can't remember much about it, just that it had a sunburst finish. This must have been about '72.

Second Guitar - a white Strat w/maple fretboard, looked just like Jimi's Woodstock guitar. This must have been about '74.

My first two amps were Peavy Classics, the 50 watt, 2x12 versions. I still have one of them, but it isn't working right now, need to get it to a tech.

First Acoustic - an Ibanez jumbo body, looks like a copy of some Gibson acoustic I have seen, still have it but I hate playing it, very stiff action. From about '77.

First Classical - a nice Washburn which I gave to my oldest son, lovely guitar from about '78.

Re: Your First Guitar?

My first guitar was a Honher professional (Strat copy). Bought it back in 88 or 89. My first amp was a Crate G10 solid state, then after a couple of months later bought a peavey rage. I still have all of my first gear. I don't really use them much only when I get nostalgic I guess....

Re: Your First Guitar?

Belive it or not, my first guitar was a -77 Fender Strat in black.

First amp was a Fender Fm212

After 3,5 years i sold it and bought a Epiphone Goth Les Paul, with a SD JB Pickup in bridge and a Stagg Jumbo acoustic, which i still have. But maybe not for much longer

Re: Your First Guitar?

First bass, Squier P-bass. First amp, Squier 15 amp. First guitar, Squier Fat Strat. oops.

Re: Your First Guitar?

First that I played ? A Tiesco something-or-another that my family had around. Slab body, one single-coil.... years later, a friend at school had one of these. He was offered $60. for the pickup or $45. for the entire guitar.

First "own" guitar ? A Fender Bullet H2. American-made, two plastic-covered hums that split at the push of a button, neck like a pool cue ... not half-bad for something that Fender marketed just to keep their name on the market during the transition from CBS.

Re: Your First Guitar?

Guitar: Maison Les Paul Junior-style. Single humbucker, double cut, all cheese. Still have it stored away over at my parent's place.

From there I went to (surprise surprise) a Korean Kramer Striker 100 (baretta) in metallic grey. Of course, I replaced the pickup with a pink Dimarzio PAF Pro.

My first amp was a CAN. Literally a plastic petrol can with an amp shoved in it. I had a coily lead, and not long after got a Boss DS1. First 'proper' amp was a Crate G80xl.
