Your Guys' Opinions On Some Pedals...

Can i have your guys' opinions on some gear? First off, anyone have experience with the Visual Sounds H2O Liquid Chorus & Echo? Also, anyone have any opinions on the MXR Dyna Comp, and the Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb? Whats your guy's favorite flanger that sounds like a traditional flanger?

I loved the H2O. It has a very nice, lush chorus sound and a very serviceable echo/delay effect.

MXR Dynacomp is one of the classic units. The RI doesnt sound as good. Circuit isnt the same, still a nice comp though.

BOSS RV-5 isnt a bad unit too, but the EHx Holy Grail is THE reverb. And kinda afforbable, usually go for 70-80$.

Cant comment on the VS unit.

really? i was lookin at the holy grail too.. everyone, if you have any recommendations on other pedals, feel free to tell me!

Re: Your Guys' Opinions On Some Pedals...

Never tried the Visual Sound pedal but I believe a few forum members have one.

I tried a Dyna Comp RI for the 1st time today and i liked it... not nearly as noisy as i thought it was gonna be and it had a good sound. I'd prefer a Keeley or a Barber Tone Press for a compressor, though.

The RV5 is a great unit albeit a little digital sounding at times. I prefer the RV3 (cuz it has delay too) or the Holy Grail pedals. The HGs sound GREAT and they're got a more organic tone. Plus that "flerb" effect is way cool.

As far as flangers go i haven't really found a single-pedal flanger I was totally gonzo over but the Boss BF3's are what I'd go with. Those old ADA flangers are pretty schweet too, as is the dark blue MXR one.

Yeah, the "Flerb" setting on the HG is very interesting. Holydirt, FYI its a king of flanger/reverb mix.

And the cool thing is that the harder you pick, the more intense the effect becomes.

Scott_F had one of these pedals and he hated the Flerb and said it was useless but I loved it and I'm sure i could find a spot for it somewhere :22:

I used it on some PinkFloyd tunes when my phaser was down. Pretty cool for some passages, but the "wave" is too fast. I'm sure there's a way to mod it. Stratdeluxer.... are u there ?

Not to get off-topic, but why do so many people knock the MT-2 Metal Zone, when I HEAR it's supposed to be the best "metal" pedal???

People knock the MT-2 for the same reason people knock anything. Tone is subjective. A guy who has a Dual Rectifier with the matching 4X12 is gonna say the Metal Zone sounds fake and trebley. A guy like me, who can't afford a tube head, and has to use a small practice amp thinks (after tweaking it for 8 years) the Zone is awesome. I've noticed that whenever I try out an amp, I always end up trying to get it to sound like my MT-2/practice amp combo.

Bottom line is: Will a $90 pedal impress a guy who can afford a Bogner Uberschall? Of course not. But, last time I checked, you can't snag an Uber for $90 :)

Re: Your Guys' Opinions On Some Pedals...

The H20 is a very cool pedal. Its almost like the old Memoryman pedals. Lush chorus and the delay is pretty good to. I tried one out at GC and played some old U2 stuff on it and it hit the mark.

I believe the price was about $130 which is cheaper than the Memoryman reissue pedals which are like $250.................
