Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

my ovation is the only guitar i really play anymore. i was already leaning toward it as my #1, but after finally getting it set up by a tech a few months ago, there has been no doubt that it has become king of the pile.

Whoa... I have wanted one of these since I saw Josh Homme playing one in the early 2000s

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

Here's another one that I play a lot. It's fighting hard for the number 1 spot and has been since I finished it in Sept. 2011.

Precision Guitar Kits SG Jr. Lollar custom wound tapped P90. All Gotoh hardware.

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

At the moment, probably this, but it really depends more on which one is at the front and therefore easiest to reach at the time...

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

Well I really do try to "rotate through" the whole lot, including the cheapies. But just putting a big picture of a couple dozen wouldn't be in the spirit of the thread.

So I'll just post a couple from the "upper tier" of nicer/more expensive ones. And since this is a Seymour Duncan board, I'll post ones that have Duncans.

In the humbucker category, my LP Classic, with a SD Classic 5 in the bridge (stock Gibson ceramic in neck):

Stock P-90s in my Hamer Special are SD also:

In the last few months I've bought a couple Les Paul Specials, one with P-100s and the other with proper P-90s, and those are getting a lot of play due to the honeymoon period. But posting 4 guitars in a "main guitar" thread would be pushing it. :)

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

My new(ish) Ibanez is getting a lot of play time at the minute, but my number one is still this beast...

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

My main (and only electric guitar): Gibson Les Paul Special
But even if I had more, this would get a lot of plays just because it plays and feels so well.

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

I don't really have a main axe. I rotate through several regularly gravitating towards Strats. A good Tele-type is very satisfying though as is an acoustic (Nekkid of course :D).

I don't have a main axe either, unless you want to call my E-Standard axe my main axe, and that'd by my RG-470. I don't buy a guitar unless I have a specific use for it, so if you look at my sig pic, I've got a guitar for:

E Standard, Eb Standard, D standard, Drop D, Drop C, B Standard (7), my 6 String Bass and my E Standard Acoustic.

My most used would be 7 String (JP-70), E Standard (RG-470) and Eb Standard (S570). My Drop D (ESP) sees a fair bit of use when the mood strikes, though admittedly my D Standard (Charvel) and Drop C (4Ex1) guitars have very specific uses.

My SX Strat. At the time it had an SSL-1/SSL-1/SSL-5 but they have been replaced
with my trusty set of Peavey pickups which capture the 70's tone better.
