Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

I'm not one to limit myself, so I generally play all of my guitars in rotation. Sometimes if I get a song idea while playing a certain guitar, but know another one would be perfect for it, I'll write the entire song around that guitar.

My main so far this year has been my Charvel 650 Custom, my first guitar with EMGs. Took a little getting used to (and amp tweaking), but I love it!

Just bought the 475 Exotic and immediately got new pickups for it as well, so it's a close 2nd and my favorite for certain things.

My highly modded Epi LP Jr. I replaced the PU in it recently but am about to change it again for a used Duncan Alnico Pro II that I recently snagged on the Bay. :)

My #1, a 1983 Burny Super Grade model. Currently sporting nickel wound strings and Lollar Imperials. Have enough other hard-hitting stuff so I made it a bit mellow.

Here she is!

My '05 Music Man Silhouette Special. I have a Tone Zone in the bridge these days but the guitar is still the same otherwise. I had Frank Falbo refret it with Stainless 6115's about 4 years ago and it just plays like a mother. My EC1000 gets a lot of play too but I consider this guitar my #1.

There are some great guitars in here gents!

Like most of you I flip back and fourth on what my number one is but lately it's pretty clear cut what gets the most play time!

She makes every gig these days and even gets most of my around the house play time as well.

Not a great photo, but my #1 is certainly my SG Special with Jazz/Custom8. These days it has one push/pull for coil splitting, but I don't use it too much. Signed by Derek Trucks.

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

My primary guitar is my 2012 Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH. It has been modified with a 3-way switch, smoked chrome knobs and Ernie Ball Cobalt strings and also blocked off the stock tremolo as it's pure junk and I don't even use a whammy bar anyway. Originally, I took the stock humbuckers out and had an old set of EMGs (81B & 85N) but after much thought, I recently had them replaced with Duncan Distortions (both N & B) and what a difference! I absolutely love them and do not see myself going back to actives anytime soon.

My secondary guitar is a Squier Redburst Telecaster that originally had a crappy stock single coil in the bridge. I routed out the bridge cavity to put an old Duncan Dimebucker (that I eventually will replace with another Distortion in a couple weeks). I also cut the bridge plate in half to accommodate the humbucker and disconnected the neck pickup completely so I can use the pickup selector switch as a "killswitch". Since my nickname is "Deli", I renamed it the "DeliCaster".

Re: Your Main Axe (Include Pics!!)

Is that of Warmoth origin? Tell us a bit more about it.

It is a new Warmoth body that will be available.... someday.... soon I hope. I have no timeline but we have 4 new body shapes coming. The others are more traditional. I actually designed this shape. I've had it built for about 6 months but I haven't been on the forum here much till recently so that's why I haven't posted pics till now. It's a fairly small body, light and comfortable. Mine has a carved rosewood top on a chambered ash core.

Love teh scalloped,DarkMatter!!!

Pretty damn sharp!

Thanks. I'm not a real shredder, I play kinda fast sometimes, but I still love scalloped boards. They just make everything easier. Effortless bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs
