Your own signature guitar?

Re: Your own signature guitar?

I'd probably go to Gibson or Dean.

If I were going to Gibson, I'd use a '57 LP as a template, with the same neck. Ebony fingerboard with Abalone block inlays. Either comes in Gloss Black, Worn Brown, or Gloss White. Gold Grover tuners, gold TOM style bridge, speed knobs. Choice of black or gold pickup rings. Comes with the choice of an SH-5b/SH-6n configuration or an 85b/60n configuration.

If I were to go to Dean, it'd be based off of an ML. Maple neck and fretboard with abalone dot inlays. Comes in Camo, with either green, dark green and brown, or grey, light brown, and brown. Silver Gotoh tuners and TOM style bridge with black pickup rings. Same pickup configurations as the Gibson, except an SH-8/SH-6.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

If I was to be famous, my sig guitar would be a PRS... well actually loads of PRS.

A mahogany solidbody with wide thin maple neck and fretboard, config pups HSS; a semi hollow body with P90, and a Mc Carty-like... but with my name on it. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: ... for a start.

Otherwise, Mincer's idea is quite attractive as well, but I have been dreaming of a PRS for quite a while now.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

Well if i were to make a signature/custom guitar i would make a Gibson jazz guitar like a ES-175 or something, with only a neck humbucker/P-90 in that blue color they offer on those guitars.

If i were to make a bass i would make a Fender Precision like my old P-bass which i sold. It would be in Midnight Blue, String thru body bridge, Vintage frets, SD Vintage or QP pup and some flats!

Re: Your own signature guitar?

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Schecter, but the design would probably end up being quite similar to the Ibanez SA2020, with the difference being the finish - either a tobaco burst or the blue-green burst they use on the RGA321 would be nice.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

Zerb, MIA nailed it.

2H Soloist with OFR. maple fretboard.

Tools for the trade. Like my favorite framing hammer.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

I would get mine made by Lentz ;)

Double cut Les Paul style - latte cream finish (TV Yellow is an alternate color) - all mahogany body - dual Gibson p90s - two volume controls w/ a 3 way toggle - wraparound bridge

Full sized ES-175 archtop - Gretsch orange - mahogany body/spruce top - dual Lollar Imperial humbuckers - two volume controls w/ 3 way - wraparound bridge

Necks are both mahogany/brazilian rosewood, 60's slim C profile

Re: Your own signature guitar?

I'll take this for my Music Man B2D Signature Model...

Take a 22-fret Silhouette Special and make the following alterations:

- Mahogany body
- Maple neck/ebony board
- Custom "Galaxy" inlay in 12th fret only, but keep side markers.
- No pickguard... direct-mount the pickups to the body
- OFR trem system
- Master Volume, Master tone (push/pull for a global split), 3-way toggle.
- HH pickup setup.

I'd have a hardtail version made as well.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

if it was based on what i play the most, itd be a white gibson explorer without the pickguard and with the toggle down near the knobs. and with DDb for sure, but i still havent found the perfect neck pickup....so lets throw in the PGn for sh!ts and giggles cause its on my to-buy list. but that isnt a very unique guitar, just get an '84 explorer and change the pickups. this on the other hand, is fairly unique and completely to my specs......

mahogany body, heaviest peice of mahogany possible
22 fret maple set neck (a big fat neck too)
maple fretboard, dunlop 6100 frets
brushed aluminum pickgaurd, satin chrome hardware (2 vol, 1 tone)
same cherry finish as tony iommi's gibson sig
would come optional with DD/jazz or 81/60

- tung oil for neck finish
- ebony fretboard
- abalone block inlays
- piezo TOM bridge
- alnico 2 pro neck and CC bridge

Re: Your own signature guitar?

Hmm, It'd be a fender for sure, but it'd be original :P.

rooksignature5nt.jpg

The Rook signature, hard rock eastern maple neck, mahogany body, jumbo frets, OFR, seymourized mini-bucker, custom blueburst flame top maple finish! Black hardware.

And instead of a tone controll, a 20dB boost knob. (Get the mini screaming)

Re: Your own signature guitar?

You may accuse me of taking ex's idea, which in that case you're right. But I also.. expanded on it, and took the Rick Neilson way.. that is, if he played a Rhoads V :p

EMG SA's for the bridge and neck, EMG 89's for the bridge-middle and neck-middle.

The first four knobs act as volume knobs for each pickup. The left-most knob is a master tone with a push-pull pot which disables the single coils when pushed. The main toggle switch is wired so that in the treble position, the bridge single coil and bucker are going, then in the middle all pickups, then in the rhythm the single coil and bucker are going. When the single coils are disabled, the mini toggle comes into play, acting as a regular toggle switch for just the buckers.

OR!!!

The same set-up as before, except when the push-pull pot is in use, it just selects the single coils. The mini toggle in the treble postion is the bridge single, the middle position would be the neck side coil of the bridge bucker and also the bridge side coil of the neck bucker, and the rhythm slot would be the neck single coil.

Both configurations are pretty ridiculous, and I have no idea if that's even possible.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

Jag body, Mahogany. TOM, through body.

Neck- Mahogany, set neck, 24 3/4 scale, Big fender headstock. Not too thick, not too thin, NO V. Big frets, gibson radius. Ebony fretboard, abalone dots

Pickups- Jag neck, Jag middle, 498T bridge.

Wiring- Jag pickup switches. Upper bout controls converted to splitting and other wiring options.

Finish- Orange, with yellow comp stripe.

Oh yeah, the Headstock has to match :D Mint guard.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

i'd get a 3 Pick up SG Gibson custom, put 3 phat cats in it, active at all times, have peace, moon, star, male, female symbols on the neck, and gold hardware.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

It was the first guitar I ever designed. I just tried to place the controls so that it wouldn't break Mr Jabsco. I also wanted to keep the Tele controls.

Re: Your own signature guitar?

jackson, rhoads model, black, yellow pinstripes, dimebucker and dunno what would be in the bridge, lockin nut, no FR, string thru
