Well, someone offered me to buy their Z-Vex Nano Head for pretty cheap, so i'm collecting some advice about if i should go for it or not.

I've never played the amp myself, so i do not know what it sounds like. I just want a cute little "gadget", that i could use for recording purposes, and\or for jamming with friends.

So, if you've played or heard the amp, please give me some advice!

Thanks,
-Erlend

Re: Z-Vex Nano Head?

Jamming with friends with half a watt? Sorry mate, ain't going to happen. This thing would never go over a drummer, you'd need at least 5 or so watts for that.
This device was created with ONE purpose: pure power tube distortion at room level. This amp is THE tube sound more than A tube sound. I'd love one of these to record to be honest. But I REALLY doubt you could use it jam with other people.

Re: Z-Vex Nano Head?

Well, with an efficient speaker, 0.5 watts should be able to produce about 100db\1m. And that's enough for jamming with another guitarist, or even a bassist, at moderate volume. Atleast to my knowlegde.

But have you played one? :)

Re: Z-Vex Nano Head?

I'd love a Nano Head myself for recording with.

Whack it through a 4x12 with good speakers and that'd be awesome for recording.

How it'd fair for jamming with a drummer, I'm not sure.

Re: Z-Vex Nano Head?

I played one through a 4x12. They are great. It is a 3 trick pony. There are three tone settings. I think they are great. I would snag one, without a second thought. the volumes were respectable if I remember right. If I remember right one of the settings had a real gritty AC/DC sound to it.

BUY IT>>>>>NOW!!

Re: Z-Vex Nano Head?

Seems like a cool little device, especially for recording and practicing. However, good luck trying to get some clean headroom out of one above low volumes.
