This is the continuation of the first mini-review of the rewinds that Dave did for me recently. See this thread for Part 1: Mini-Review: Zhang Special Rewind
This past weekend I played the Strat through the Marshall. I'm going to tell everyone what I told Dave this morning.
I have never in my playing days had such a great SRV/Hendrix tone. These pickups really are the perfect combination of both. We played "Cold Shot" and the tone was right there. Did some "Purple Haze" and it was right there. I started in to "Manic Depression" but my bro-in-law didn't know that one...lol.
These things shine through the Marshall, big time. Even with the gain rolled back, they're clean, yet dirty enough. They like the Rangemaster clone I built too.
They match up with the Little '59 in the bridge so well it's scary. There is barely any volume difference from the mid to bridge. In fact, my guitar now goes to fat in the neck, fatter in the middle, to really fat in the bridge.
Am I happy with 'em? Hell yeah, I am...lol.
Again, awesome work, Dave. Thank you.
