I agree and note that I played this amp before you with Jeff Seal in Houston…..

A Hallicrafters shortwave radio like this:

I found it in the dump, modded it to be a guitar amp, and played through a scavenged 6" TV speaker that I also found in the dump. Jeff Seal has one in the display case in his shop.

My first amp NOT homemade from junk was a "Tempo" combo amp my parents bought me for Christmas from Lafayette Radio Electronincs. Like this one here, although mine had green grill cloth. Classy.

It put out a whopping 5 watts of solid-state power through an 8" speaker. Volume, tone, reverb and tremolo, though there was no footswitch for the effects. I soon modded it to add a switch.

Thus began my life as a HomeGrownToneBrewologist.
