NPD!! Picked up a Memory Toy from work today!

I work at GC, I got a EHX Memory Toy yesterday for $47. Our employee discount is pretty great, one of the only perks of working for GC.

My buddy at work, who's a pedal freak, and I have been disucssing the Toy and the Carbon Copy, we're both in the market for a new Delay. He ended up with the CC, and I the Toy. We both spent some time at the store testing out both of them, we threw in an OCD and Swollen Pickle to see how well they work with dirt. I would have probably chosen the CC, but it was about 90 bucks with our discount and the Toy was only 47. Times are tight so I went with the toy.

That is not to say that I settled on the Toy!! There were some very noticeable differences. First off, needless to say, the Mod on the CC was superior to the Toy. They both have Trim pot, I have not yet messed with the Toy's yet. Those EX nano knobs are realllllly hard to pull off the pot shaft. The CC Mod is very musical and usable for any spacey delay situation. The Toy's Mod is very intense (trim pot adjustable), it's just too wacky to use with a clean signal on it's own. But when I used it with my fuzz and phase 90 going with it, it sounded pretty good.

One big thing we noticed about the Toy and the CC is that the Toy has a much better slap back sound, while the CC doesn't do slap back well at all. Another great use of the Toy's Mod is while using very short slap back delays. A tone I've always loved is the intro from Billy Squire's Lonely is the Night. With the Mod on and a very short delay I can get that tone dead on.

I know some other dudes here have one. What do think?

Love it, except for one thing: The volume increase when on.

It's handy for solos, but sometimes I don't want it to do that. And I can't do anything.

Use a jewerly screwdriver set, you'll turn the trim pot easily. I have it set for a very subtle effect, it was very seasick out of the box.

SICK deal by the way!
