  • Ouch! Is that the flanger bug?

I think it just bit me.

Any suggestions for pedals under $150 that will get me swirly cleans that are wonderfully magical?

Sorry. We cork sniffers run our tones through actual jet engines.
I am so close to retirement that I could play in a band full time. All I have to do is figure out what to use instead of money, improve my playing, learn some songs, and find some other musicians more talented than me who will do exactly as they're told. .

Electric Mistress... Airplane Flanger... are a couple to try out.

I personally like the std. Boss BF-2 for subtle flange and the Electric Mistress for big swirling sounds.

So the flanger flavor of cork smells like jet fumes?

I guess I should clarify that I'm looking more for subtle than for jet engine type stuff. And I don't anticipate using it on dirty sounds, because I just am not a big fan of those sounds.

I like my MXR EVH Flanger, but there are plenty more out there that are just as good and cheaper. I bought mine basically just so I could play the intro to Hear About It Later.

Electric Mistress does subtle well... Just a huge footprint. I would definitely check it out.

In my mind a good subtle flanger is slightly more robust than a good chorus. The extremes are pretty wild but on a very light setting it suits my purpose as well as chorus.

MXR micro flanger and Ibanez FL9 are 2 of my favorites and in a small footprint too.

+1 for the MXR Micro Flanger.

Anyone have experience with the TC Electronic Vortex Flanger? That thing looks pretty slick.

I'm a big fan of the Ibanez FL9 flanger. Early 80's versions are great and are still reasonably priced!

I have a Boss BF-3 and an Ibanez CF7. This Boss is one of my most favoritist pedals in my collection. Eventually, I want to see how an Ibanez 9-series flanger compares.

one Flanger i am not impressed with is the MXR EVH Flanger... it does not really do anything better than my cheaper smaller MXR Micro Flanger does for useable tones... and the EVH is 18v and the Micro is 9v... found out the hard way the EVH version likes fresh batteries or the adapter to run at it's best

I had a BF-3 long ago and couldn't get anything I liked out of it. Even though I have no dislike for Boss products in general, that one I just couldn't gel with.
