  • My Ceriatone amp and homemade cab

Well, just got done making up the cabinet for my Ceriatone Princeton clone. Learned a lot about wood and construction in the process.....
    For example:
dont use old joists as they are most probably bowed due to the weight bearing bit. Gluing the end to side grain sections always ends up with a variable gap in a prominent position.
Holes for dowel always end up off centre even if measured and the centre being punched as a guide.
Rounded off corners/edges suddenly makes an average bit of work look much more professional
    Corner caps look cool

As to the tone....wow. Its a really simple circuit, so the tone is pure and beautiful.....luscious clean
And thanks to the recent spate of 'great NOS tubes for older style amps' threads we've had recently I've got some great glass coming to augment the nice tones already there.

All I can say is Oh hell yeah!!!! Great job, man ... that is super sweet. Do you have a way to post some clips?
I am so close to retirement that I could play in a band full time. All I have to do is figure out what to use instead of money, improve my playing, learn some songs, and find some other musicians more talented than me who will do exactly as they're told. .

      Thanks!!

Recording - Thats one area that I'm not up on really.

Actually.....what is the way people get into recording themselves easily these days. The last time I was doing it was with a Tascam 4-track (early/mid 90's).

would love some input on this one if you do it yourself.

I am assuming you mean (amp) head shell, not (speaker) cabinet.

If so, that looks REALLY nice! I envy you handy people!

Is that an Epi Valve Jr cabinet below it? What speaker are you using? Can someone pls explain the Princeton circuit? Is that the Champ but with a tone control? Is yours a direct clone? What rectifier are you using?
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!

Cab is an Epi....has a Celestion Heritage 65 in it.
Princeton was a lower powered deluxe I think..... 1 channel. This is a Blackface type circuit
This version has been tweaked for more mids, has a negative feedback loop (a presence control) and a stronger tremolo effect.
Its a tube rectifier, the 5AR4 type. Got a Mullard in there.

Tony.....I've included the ceriatone pic....I didn't take any myself.

You put the corners on wrong.

But, I have yet to build an amp, so you got me there. I might do a champ from Torres this summer if I get my way.
