Close the Back of an Open Back Cab, to convert it to a Closed Back Cab?

Do you think I should do this? I would be doing it to have a lightweight 35 pound cab for practices around town and easy transport. My Orange 212PPC cab weighs 62 pounds and is really bulky, so I am thinking of buying an additional cab and putting neo speakers in it:

getting this 45 pound orange open back cab, putting a board in the back to convert it to closed back cab for more chugging and bass, and putting neodymium tonkerlite speakers in it, then using it for practice:

then it would weigh 35 pounds

I was thinking of either making a small board, or taking out the top and bottom vent boards and replacing them with a giant board, here is a video on what I want to do:

it would have less cubical feet so it would sound less bass heavy. do you think I should do it? maybe go with the small board like in the youtube video for more versatility.

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated, Thanks :)

More of a question than comment: Wouldn't you need to put a hole in the baffle so that air could move through the grill and not restrict cone movement?????

no need for hole in baffle for closed back cabs, but thanks for the question :)

I love closed back cabs, even for styles associated with open, but that's me.

As far as how to do it, Avatar offers closed/open back options on some cabs. You can get two slats for open back options, and then one big back for closed. They say that they do not offer a third slat to close up a two slat open back, because of the possibility of vibration/ rattling between the adjacent slats.

Thanks Laughing Kookaburra,

I have not used open back in a long time

I do not like the idea of rattling, and that would prolly happen if I just velcroed in a small board to the back of the cab. So my mind is set on making a big board to convert it to closed back. The Orange 212 Jim Root cab is the exact same dimensions as the open back below, so I am sure Orange just did what I am planning to do and put in special speakers. Thanks :)
