I got a box today!

It had some packing materials in it.


Then I found another box!


Inside that box was a hardcase.


This is what the case looks like!


There was something in the case...


It gets better after that.


I had my fingers crossed.


Look! No glaring red ring like in the stock photo!


Pretty content.


For now........


and yes..........I know it's backwards. Deal with it.

Pretty loud unplugged. I haven't plugged in yet. I'm waiting for my neighbor to go to work in about 30 minutes! Setup and intonation were spot freaking on out of the box. My only real complaint up to this point is there is buffing compound in every freaking nook and cranny.

Ahh yes, the buffing compound. I've seen that on Fenders and other brands too. At least you know it got a good polishing.

While you're checking it out, run some super fine sandpaper through the slots wrapped around the string. It'll get any crap in the slots out and fine tune them real good. I like to use 320 or 440 grit myself.

I have a thing for Gibsons with Fender finishes, and Fenders with Gibson finishes, so this fits nicely in the first category

What sort of neck do they put on the Studios?

It's supposed to have a 60's slim taper...supposed to. Feels more like a 50's neck to me. It's quite a bit chunkier than my 60's tribute gold top and has quite a bit more shoulder to it. It's still really quite comfortable though.

Sound's like a '59 profile to me. More shoulder and meat than the 60's but not quite a baseball bat like the 50's. That's a real comfy profile. My SG Classic had a profile similar.

+1 my sg classic has the same feel once you get used to it you have a lot more advantage. But I have hands on the large side.

498T w/ an A5 and the 490R w/ an A2. Came stock with 500k pots and push pull coil splits. The jury is still out on them. I'm still turning knobs and trying my different amps.
