Re: I got a box today!
I've always thought the 498T balanced best with the tone knob pretty low but the amp's treble set high enough to make the neck pickup sparkle and cut. Gibson seems to really like to do the "darker neck pickup, really bright bridge pickup" thing.
Also, the middle position with the bridge coil cut engaged is a great sound. Never found the neck split to be very exciting.

Re: I got a box today!
I am EFFING PO'd! I finally get to plug in and either the bridge pickup is no good, or the push pull isn't any good. I checked the wiring and the switch. All the solder joints look good. I have to go buy some batteries for my multimeter, so I can't tell which it is at this point.
I should not be having this problem with a brand new $1400 guitar. Period.Gear: More junk than I know what to do with

I'm not wild about Studios, but with a Custom in the bridge, that thang would Rawk!"Anyone who understands Jazz knows that you can't understand it. It's too complicated. That's what's so simple about it." - Yogi Berra

Whether I send it back to AMS or to Gibson, either way, I don't get to play my new guitar that I just freaking got today.
I need a store that stocks Gibson and left handed guitars near by. Then I probably wouldn't be having this problem.Gear: More junk than I know what to do with
