HH Set for Classic Rock?

Ordered another 59/Custom Hybrid today, so going full circle back to the Jazz neck / 59/Custom combo I took out and put in my SG.

That is a solid setup, btw.

Probably too late for this to help, but Psyclones might also fill the bill. They're becoming one of my favorite sets. No trembucker, though.

I am not an expert of vintage humbucker tones but I would have started just using a matched set of PAF as a starting point, like a set of 59s or PGs or A2Ps or SNS, just to know I start from a pair of properly balanced pickups before going thru the rabbit hole of fine tuning.

Ok… left field suggestion. PATB-1n and a PATB-3 in the bridge. Will take you from classic rock to gobs of gain with no issues.
