Blueman, I respect you opinion on guitars and particular blues guitars as much as anyone on here. I can tell you love the 335. What budget version would you recommend, if any? Epi Dot? Dot Studio? Ibanez artcore? Something else?
Hey, thought I'd ask you directly about the Gibson P94 and how you think it would pair with a '59B? Would I be able to get enough distortion. I can send you a soundbit of the kind of sounds I want, since that always works better than words! It's of my friend jamming. I appreciate your help. Also, what kind of pots would I want (and do you happen to know the ones I probably already have with the Alnico classics in the Epi. g400 '66)
G'day blue, I'm taking the Duncan Custom 5 and 59 out of my Les Paul and I'm putting them in a Strat. Got a new set of WB Firewaters coming for the Lester. Anyway I was just wondering what size pots and cap I should use. It's just going to be HH so I was thinking a 250k volume pot and a 500k tone with a .22 cap. What do you think? Thank you.
You've got HB's on your Jagmaster, right? Do you know what magnets are in there now? Probably A5's? An A4 would warm the neck, take off a little of the A5's top & bottom ends, and even it out. In bright woods, like maple or ash, it's certainly a good idea. A4's aren't as devoid of treble as an A2, plus they have a firmer low end. If you want something in between an A2 & A4, there's A3's.

I'm using A8's more & like them a lot. I think they're great in the bridge when you want more warmth and a fuller sound than an A5 has, but don't want to give up output like you do with an A2.

With both of these mags, you'll want 500K pots (you always want 500K's in the necK), to keep clarity & definition.

Look up Wymore Guitars.com for magnets. I always get an assortment and meet the $50 minimum for free shipping. That way you can make quicker changes & don't have to place another order & wait.

Let me know if I can help.

    Hey there,

Since you're the man regarding swapping magnets, do you think it's a good idea to replace the magnets on my Squier Jagmaster for starters? They're okay at most for cleans, but sounds sterile on a tube amp od.

From your rundown, I was thinking about A4 on the neck, and A8 on the bridge.

I'd appreciate your honest opinion on the matter. Thank you for your time!

Thanks for the run-down on how to swap magnets, with analogies and all. I owe you one.
