12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

Beautiful craftsmanship, great iconic piece for a company to pull out all the stops.

I too prefer a more subtle look for myself on my guitars.

Okay, Okay..I get the message...you all don't seem to want the 'priceless perfection' of the Mona Lisa. She IS,after all, a studied and acquired taste.

HI. Good to see you. Thats like saying a Toyota red paint job looks like a Ferrari red paint job.

Hi.

I mean that it looks gaudy. In the same way, it looks like a Harley covered head to toe in chrome. A guitar and motorcycle obviously look nothing alike, but they're both ruined by excessive decoration.

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

Beautiful
But as said I'd be scared to play it for fear of horking it up

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

It's not really my thing. I tend to like plainer guitars, regardless of price. (A Jem is about as much inlay as I can take.) It's cool, though, for the people who did the work and whoever ends up owning it. There are enough other guitars out there that I don't feel slighted by this one not being directed squarely at me.

The Howard Hughes model. A guitar for someone who wants to hide in plain sight. You'd be able to play that anywhere from small backyard parties to vast stadiums and no-one will ever notice you. No matter how great your playing, no-one will remember your face.

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

I love it! And I'd play it out, maybe not at the bars with the chicken wire in front of the stages, but I take all my guitars out, even the LP Supremes and the 335s and the Martins. I think it is gorgeous, but I'm not selling all my gear to buy it tomorrow.

I'd be interested in playing it. I suspect it is chambered...that's a lot of maple for 8.9 lbs. I'd like to see how resonant it is, or if it is a sustain machine, and dead as granite.

I recently bought a used Martin D-41 and I love the abalone inlay. The tone is as satisfying as the visual. I really appreciate the work and artistry that goes into that.

Beautiful Les Paul. I'll take two! :)

I don't think anyone's denying that it isn't quality, but the aesthetics are a bit off putting.

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

I think it would appeal to me a LOT more if it simply had a plain top.

Each element of the craftsmanship and materials looks great, but piling all those elements together is just toooo much for my tastes. I have no doubt it would play and sound like a dream, but visually, to my eyes, it verges on being vulgar.

I often think ... 'just because we can, does it mean we should ?'

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

It's way too much, I'd take a nice '58 plaintop over that monstrosity every second of every minute of every day of the week

Re: 12 thousand dollars LP Gibson custom shop.

you dipwads would probably say the Sistine Chapel was too much. Whatever.
