Well FWIW, I think its an awesome block of woody super-uber-kick-assness.

Bottom line, if you like it and it plays and sounds awesome.... well, that's all that matters. Rock it loud and proud.

You could always send a couple pictures to Jackson and get their take on it if it would make you feel any better, or worse.

Unfortunately the carver did not reply to my email. Maybe I should register on a Jackson forum.

My main concern at this point is the wood on the back that has too large structures for "pure" maple and shows neither scarf/sleeve in the neck nor body wings. I don't have an explanation.

The electronics are a mess of cheap Asian garbage and duct tape. Thingie is active.

That is a crazy design man! At least it has a Jackson headstock because there is a lot I can live with but an ugly headstock is unacceptable.

Really no joins? that seems odd. Maybe the wood is coated in something?

It almost looks like there is a veneer on it, which would explain both the odd pores not consistent with maple and the disappearance of the scarf joint and the wings. But how would they do a veneer and keep the area around the fretboard biding smooth?

In any case, the seller and I agreed on a return based on information issues in the original auction. If anybody wants it it'll be back. Let me know if you want better pics before I package it up.

That is a bit off. Maybe its been veneered with material or paper then sealed.

You made the right decision sending it back bro. Now just go buy something truly awesome.

Could some Jackson knowledgable person tell me why this one has EMGs? What year is it supposed to be?

I like the color. Overall I would prefer a hardtail but pickings are slim.
