Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

I usually do not like Jackson guitars, I have nothing against them or the company as they make some very nice instruments... but they just aren't for me. That being said, I love custom woodworking, especially on guitars. I would definitely play that axe, it's badaxe to me.

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

The carving is a cool idea, could have been executed a bit better though whilst leaving a little more of the original preserved.
Looks like it started it's life as a Soloist. I personally would have prefered it that way.

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

The carving work is **** on that. I did better on my first attempt. I am going to do a carved guitar that will smash that completely out of the water. I am trying to be confident :18:

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

Jackson makes lots of amazingly good guitars.

That is not one of them, however.

Sweet man, I can't wait to see that!

Also not my cup of tea but I'd play it in a metal band

Not a fan of ESP'S and Jacksons carved like this. Nor am I a fan of graphics for the most part. Jacksons are great playing guitars though!

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

that thing is cool as hell, at least for me as long as it looks evil and sounds nice, then it deserves to be played

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

It depends on how it sounds. I could live with the looks if it sounded good and was a bit cheaper than a more run of the mill US Jackson.

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

That guitar didnt start life like that... the UO serial number gives it away. Thats just a USA soloist that some clown has butchered. If it was a real guitar from Jacksons custom shop the serial number would start with a J.

The dip writing the Ebay add even copy pasted the current SL1 ad copy instead of actually giving the real specs on the instrument. That is obviously not a TB4 but probably a J50B that was standard in 91 when that guitar was made. It probably has the JE1200 on board boost also. It would have a poplar body instead of alder. But whatever, as PT Barnum said "Theres a sucker born every minute"

Re: Is this guitar cool or stupid?

There were no "UO" serials - they were simply "U" serials for USA and "J" serials for Japan. U10000 was not "UO10000".

And that guitar has been ruined. The carving is way overboard, removing too much of the body and probably leaving sharp edges.
