1985 Kramer

Re: 1985 Kramer

Nice to see the '85s are out now. The '85 is Made in USA. The first run of '84s were overseas. The last few big batches have been Made in USA so if you go for one, it will most likely be made in the US.

I so want one of those '85s, but after they become available with a maple fingerboard (if they will at all).

Re: 1985 Kramer

In '86, I wanted an EVH-style axe badly, but not a Kramer, because everybody & their brother had one at the time. I wound up with an Ibanez RG410:

(I know, I know, the intonation is fubar'ed. Leave me alone.) ;)

Basswood body, oiled maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, single angled humbucker (currently a Dimebucker), Floyd-licensed whammy. Was my only guitar up until maybe four years ago.

Re: 1985 Kramer

Cool guitar (growing up, I was Baretta obsessed), but you couldn't pay me to buy a solid maple strat-style, after my experiences with Lynch ESPs and my friend's parts strat. Nasty bright!

Weren't the solid maple 80s Kramers the result of someone accidentally using a stockpile of woods meant for tops?

Re: 1985 Kramer

Hey Memphis,

is that a real Baretta or a Warmoth. you say that it is a Warmoth neck. how come it says Kramer on it???
is the body maple or alder?

nice guitar by the way!

It's a real baretta, I assume it was dropped on stage and the neck was replaced. A few other things make me tend to believe this.

Apparently warmoth did a great job on the headstock. (The neck profile is nuts too, not sure exactly what it is, but this is the BIGGEST neck I've ever seen on any guitar. It's as deep as it is wide.)

It's a maple body AFAIK.

Thanks.

I'm not sure about that, but it's not that bright of a guitar. It sounds alot like my rickenbacker. Good natrual lowend with smooth highs and mids.
