Hey guys. Got a question about a "standard" double pole 5-way toggle switch.

I can see the lugs since they are exposed, and have identified the common and n,m,b etc.

I'm wondering if a standard switch like this would allow for position #2 and #4 to let me split coils effectively on an H/S/S equipped guitar.

In other words, at #2 i want bridge/mid together - both in sc mode, and at #4 I want mid/neck together both in sc mode.

Would a simple 5 way accomplish this, or do I need to get that big kahuna 4 pole superswitch?

PART 2 - If a basic switch WILL do the simple task I ask, that what is the point of having that ultra mega 4 pole switch??? I mean, we only have 5 position to choose from, right? So what is the benefit of having that monster 4 pole switch - unless of course you've got a series of push pull pots to work in conjunction with it, which is probably where that thing shines... Thanks.

Easily done. Use one side for the pickup selection. Use the other side to ground out one coil when the bridge humbucker and middle pickup are combined.

On the side used for coil splitting, determine which terminal is selected when the bridge pickup is selected by itself and connect the red & white wires to it. Connect a wire to ground at the middle terminal of that side. Now when the switch is in the middle/bridge #4 position the humbucker will be split. Lew
