2X12 Cab Project & Wiring Question(s)

I have a killer 2X12 ported slant face cab ( Rivera ), that I'm working over as a project. Briefly stated, it came with a covering so lame I was embarassed to own it ( the guy wouldn't part out just the top ). So I'm also re-doing the top and a 1X12. I'm removing the velco-astro-turf gunk, plastic corners, mediocre speakers, replacing the wimpy plastic insert handles with monster Marshalls, and rewiring for 16 Ohm speakers - mono with a single 1/4 in jack ( no stereo ). All are being sanded and finished natural wood.

So I know what the ferrule looks like, but what does the jack etc & wiring look like to make a mono setup ? Pretend that I'm good with my hands and speaker replacement, but otherwise a total moron - hypothetically. Same question going to a 16 Ohm 1X12 cab. The original was ( is ) 8 Ohm mono, or 4 Ohm stereo. Comments ? Speaks will be Weber Chicago ceramic 80 Watts most likely.

What mabe you need to do is go to one of these big guitar outlet stores, and while all the noise going on turn an open back amp around and look at the wires in a 2x12 between the speakers and the wires disappearing up to the amp. Make a map. there may be a difference in a couple of them. (series or parallel) If you see a little plus sign at one of the speaker tangs thats where the signal goes into th speaker coil. The other then is the return. The jack can be more explained by looking at the plug. The tip is the signal. There is an insulator. Then the rest of it is return. (Some want to call it ground) Stick the plug into the jack while having the jack in your hand. Look closely at the contact between them. The wire hookup will then be obvious. One size wire will cover all the ohms and voltages. You can't miss with 16-18 ga. Like lamp cord but not lamp cord. A good high quqlity hookup wire.
