Re: 50 years from now: what amp will guitarists be playing through?

You guys are being so shortsighted. Incorporating quantum mechanics into guitar amplification is where it's at. :D

Think about it... every conceivable possible guitar tone accessed simultaneously, with a Bose/Line 6 Quantum Multiverse Limiter device to allow us to choose how many of which ones we want! Versatility freaks will love it, and tone purists will blow every capillary in their body trying to deal with it. It'll go perfectly with their Microsoft Wal-Mart Exxon Nokia Multiphasic Resonance Stratocaster XVII's.

Or, you could be old school about it and play on a 3 femto-watt amp (vintage tube emulation of course) routed right to your inner ear, soldered to your cochlea. No controls would be necessary, because of the the Bluetooth implanted in the back of your skull for controlling it... why, the installation is virtually painless (save for that annoying 60hz buzz in your temporal lobe)!

Now that they're getting up there in age, that's what the Rolling Stones are singing:

"Hey, you - get off of my lawn...Hey, you - get off of my lawn..."

After playing through the POD pretty much exclusively for the past 3 or 4 months, I plugged in the Princeton Reverb last night and had a great time. :) Modelling is good, but no where near that real tube feel.

I might take the KGM challenge with the Tele, PR and KOT...

Kinda funny when I think of my 4 tube amps, one I bought new in 1971..
And my Pod XT..
My Pod XT probebly has more dust on it,, and FWIW,, its not been out of its box in 3 years..
It does Not emulate the sounds of my Marshall in Any Cab combination I use..
It Does Not, Emulate any of my Tube Fender's, in Any Cab Combination or Combo I personaly setup and Use..
You can get some decent sounds from it, but it will never be Live..
As in have a life of its own!
You only get from it ,what you program into it..
Really in retrospect, it's sounds, remind me much of the canned Bull Droppins that most today are bombarded with , from there televisions..
Someones paid for opinion that really dont add up to squat.. ;)
My Ked's tennis shoes,, never really did help me to run faster or jump higher..
Tube amps on the other hand,, have helped many run faster and jump higher..
But I Sure Am Glad, Im not an Oscar Meyer Wienner!
