5150 and 5150 II = 6505 and 6505+?

Hey guys, I've obviously seen all the ads and stuff about the "new" Peavey 6505 and 6505+ amps, and how they're supposedly the same thing as the 5150 and 5150 II (respectively). So are these amps really the same? If not how are they different? And what about the tones coming out of them? Can anyone comment on all of these amps and how they sound?

I know it's a lot of questions, but thanks in advance.

Based on what I've read, the only change they made was the numbers themselves and the front panel where the numbers were printed on. Apparently it's the same exact circuit.

every write-up i've seen on this says it is EXACTLY THE SAME as the 5150 and 5150 II. they just had to change the name because evh owns the copyright/trademark to the numbers 5150.

the reason they chose 6505 is this: they started off in 1965 and it is now 2005 and they are using these numbers as a 40 year anniversary dedication or something.

5150 is the number for The clinically insane. So I have heard. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

lol... I'll have to remember to use "5150" in the proper context, regardless of the fact that no one else would understand it...

5150 is the LAPD's code for an escaped clinically insane person, the name of a VH album, and I believe the address of his studio.
