7-string triple shot?

I see they don't make the triple shots for 7 string guitars, but has any other individual or company made something like this for 7 string humbucker pickups? If so, and they are for sale, any links or info? Thanks.

Re: 7-string triple shot?

We had a thread a while back on this same subject. We found the best way to get one is to make your own by either cutting into a 7 string mounting ring or grafting the two together.

If your only concern is making it incognito and you don't care about ease of use during a song, you can always put one of the switch plates with 4 switches that are found on Bass VI on the back of the guitar.

I hate to say it, but for low key switching systems that offer versatility and ease of use, you have to have a six string. Don't ask me why SD ain't hopped onto that idea yet.

Re: 7-string triple shot?

It depends on how many people suggest it. Seven strings is a smaller market for sure, and seven stringers who dive into wiring options for their pickups is an even smaller market. The only way to be sure is to suggest it to them, or having the Custom Shop fabricate something for you. You may be able to make one by crafting, but it will cost you a Triple Shot to do it.

Re: 7-string triple shot?

Hi, new member here. For my 1st post I'd just like to add: I've thought ever since it came out that the Triple Shot should be available as just the little switches and circuit board without the humbucker ring, but that's something you can do yourself.

I believe the idea originally came from the guitarist for Canned Heat who had switches mounted in his humbucker rings. I saw a fella on youtube do that on a cheap LP kit guitar but I can't find the video 5 years later unfortunately.

I'd quite like to do something similar but just have one switch in each pickup ring to determine whether my push/push pot splits the humbucker or puts it in parallel.

Welcome to the forum!

Those switches, and the board and wires they are connected to are pretty fragile. The Triple Shot ring protects them...I don't know how it would work if it wasn't connected to a ring. I always though the tiny switches poking out of an HH Strat pickguard would be cool, though.

Hi there. Thank you for the welcome, glad to be aboard.

What I mean is, imagine a triple shot with the same little plastic housing around the switches but without the other 3 sides of the humbucker ring. Scratchplate mounting is exactly what I had in mind. I thought about buying some for my cheapo SG style guitar and cutting away the 3 remaining sides of the ring and mounting the triple shot switch section slightly recessed on a batwing scratchplate in the same position as if it were a 'bucker ring.

Re: 7-string triple shot?

Oh cool..yeah, then we are almost talking about the same thing. The Triple Shots are a really cool idea, and I suppose you could alter the ring to only have 1 side. They are really the best way to accomplish what they do, and very easy to see what 'mode' you are in at a glance. I don't think I'd ever go back to toggles and push/pulls to do what they do.

Re: 7-string triple shot?

heck yea
maybe a seven string version would fit over a trembucker with a cover
