What I mean is that the frets are between the binding. Not over it. Does that make sense?

Oh. If you notch the fret ends so they cover the binding, that will give you more real estate for bends, look nicer, and eliminate any gaps that could cause problems.

Ordering some frets.

Pulled them all yesterday and chipping wasn't too bad but sure took a long time.

That's okay. Careful is good. Prep the board with sandpaper and a block, clean well with lacquer thinner or similar. What frets did you order?

I got a couple

6150 cuz I know I'll use it on other builds even if I don't use it on this.

Also ordered 6105 because all the Gretsch guys on that forum say it's close to correct but much more playable.

Got the tall version of both.

Put some new frets on over the weekend. Need to level, crown and make them pretty. Then I'll drop it off at the shop and have an expert do the setup cause I'm running out of energy and I want it to play great.

Going to take it in to my local shop for a final setup and then I am calling it quits!

I am glad I took it in because I just could not have done it right. Floating bridge, bigsby, all new frets......just kinda beyond me (go look at my other thread, ha!)

Neck is suprisingly fast. Ebony fretboard is so clean and not a divot to be found after all these years. New frets feel great. I need to really give it a go later when I have more time but first impressions.....it's just easy to play and despite being a huge guitar is very comfortable.

I feel like I need to learn some Khruangbin or something fun and clean to play on this one.

Who or what the hell is Khruangbin? Sounds like a weird Eastern philosophy.

I'm holding on to this one for the time being. It's super fun and different. Evern compared to my White Falcon....it has a whole different thing going on. I might sell it someday and yes, I'd hope to get more than $1000 considering I dropped about that much in parts to get it working again. Not even beginning to count labor which was a LOT.
