A NGD that is EPIC for Me!

Re: A NGD that is EPIC for Me!

THat is BEAUTIFUL. They really need to make more LP's in "non standard" colors. Man that's a nice looking guitar. Please post more pix of it, if you can put it down long enough to, that is...
I'd love to see the back, one of the things I never "got" about LP's is how the back is a different color (and yeah, I know it's because it's a different wood, I just want mine all the same) My first guitar was a red sparkle LP copy, back front neck, etc all the same so when I saw a "real" LP and the back didn't match the front, I didn't like it.
Anyway, congrats on your NGD, enjoy in good health!

Re: A NGD that is EPIC for Me!

Originally I did the series/parallel because j had never tried it. But when the pickups are put out of phase, the volume has a noticeable drop. When you then pull the switch to put them in-series, the volume returns to normal. So in the end it has become a useful way of keeping my volume up when using the phase switch! :smokin:

Ah! Now I understand, I forgot that you could have each pickup either in series or in parallel with each other. I have an Ibanez RG-120 that I may just have to try that on. It has one volume and one tone. Anyone know where to find a wiring schematic for that?

Are you wanting to do push/pull pots for the two knobs? As long as you have 4-conductor pickups that should be doable.

Nice looking ride! But not an Explorer. :13:

Well, my other always-wanted-as-a-kid guitar is a black Explorer. And my Gibson Trad Pro Explorer has already made that dream come true! :D
Still, more Explorers sounds good... :scratchch Any thoughts on how to convince the wife on this one? She has asked me for no more Explorers because of how much space the guitar and the case take-up, so this will not sit well with her :chairshot

Dude, that is a seriously nice looking guitar. Congrats!

How are you liking the 59/C? I've had one in the bridge of my strat for the last year or so and it's awesome. I was just curious about how it sounds in an LP. I'm actually thinking about swapping the stock A5 for an A2. It's not so much that I've got a problem with the way it sounds now, but I recently swapped the A5 in my PG for an A8 and it made it so much better. I want that kind of tonal shift out of the 59/C but with less output than the stock A5.

I did some more jamming on this tonight and got the pickup heights dialed in perfectly. MAN! The 59/C sounds really great! If you want less output, you could try the A2, or maybe a UOA5. Or maybe a degaussed A5? I think that would be your best bet at retaining the character. I think an A3 or A4 would probably not be right, but I'm still learning on my mag swaps.
