Re: A2 59 rockin clips with Da Plexi
Edit: Right after I posted, I looked again at what the thread title is: A2 59 rockin clips with Da Plexi. If these are just meant to be "clips" and not complete songs, you may want to ignore everything I posted past this point.

Hey Kevin; I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to be a bit more critical than the good folks who posted before me.
From a purely technical point of view, they were, of course, outstanding. Great playing, great tone, excellent recording. Clearly better than anything that I could produce now, or am likely to in the future. And, if you were just a fellow forumite posting a clip, I'd tend to just say "Good jams!" and leave it at that.
But, I get the impression that this is actually a CD project that you're working on, possibly and probably, with the hopes of going commercial. From that point of view - there's just something missing. I just listened to all three, for the third time in a row, and to be honest, I'm struggling to put my finger on exactly what it is that's missing. But its something. Its almost as if each song is the "break" in another piece, like the main theme, or melody isn't there. For lack of a better term, I might say they lacked "the hook." But I hate to use the term "hook" because that implies some sugar-coated pop, which these aren't.
I could take a Jeff Beck album, that I hadn't listened to in years, play any track, and immediately identify what song I was listening to. And, each song would have its own character and theme. If I waited 15 minutes between listening to yours, I might think I was listening to the same song again. I wish I could be more specific about what it was that didn't touch me about these, but as I said, I can't quite put my finger on it.
Again, I really hope that I'm not beating you up too bad here, its just that these songs, and more importantly, you, clearly have the talent to go places, and produce some music. But you have to figure out a way to inject a bit of your own "mojo" into the song. There has to be something that says "Kevin Schaffer", rather than sounding like a practice session for some studio musicians.
BTW - If I'm the only one who feels this way, feel free to ignore me. :laugh2:
And one last thing, the song "Butter Face" has a filename of "Butterhead".
Take care buddy. Artie
