Glad you found the answer. It is definitely important to raise the position of 2x12s so that the guitar tones arent stuck on the floor.
Another issue is balance in the band's gear. In my opinion, a 6x10 bass rig is a lot bigger than a 2x12 guitar rig. In the future, you may want to upgrade to a 4x12 for better balance, a warmer and more ear-friendly tone, and better coverage.
Keep a close watch on volume levels during soundchecks. You want to hear each instrument well. A drummer that is too loud will definitely cause the guitars/bass to bring their volume too loud, thus drowning on the singer and causing more noise and less music.
Keep everything so it is balanced and clearly heard, and you should be good!
