Hi guys,
I've been playing guitar for quite some time and usually look at the classified for used guitars and amps that may be good offers.
I found this Ibanez RG320FM for 180CHF (for simplicity let’s say 1CHF = 1USD) which seemed like a good deal to me. I have a modified strat with a fixed bridge and a single humbucker, a HSS pacifica with a Wilkinson trem and sperzels, so this HH with a FR (Ibby Edge III) seemed like a good addition.
After looking at the ad again, everything seems to be in order, BUT the pressure pads and bolts are missing from the nut, is this a deal breaker? I know that without this parts it will not be “double locking”, but I could order the pads online or even try to make them at my workshop. I try to get the price as low as 150 to compensate for the missing parts.
I had a RG321MH and I really liked the neck and sound of the pickups, this one has pretty much the same hardware, except from the trem/nut and the fact that this body is basswood and the other was mahogany.
What do you think? Should I go for it and find/make those parts or should I pass? I really like the looks of the guitar and will, of course, try it before buying it. I’ve read that the Edge III trem is not that bad, and since it’s my first FR and I’m not a tremolo abuser, it should not be a problem.
Summing up, here are the specs:
RG series
5-way switch (neck series, neck parallel, both, inner coils, bridge series)
Great condition (from the pics)
Infinity 3 & 4 humbuckers
Comes with a Gig bag, not shown in pics
Manufactured in August 2006, from the serial number.
Pressure pads and bolts are missing from the nut.

Cheers,
Walter
