Re: After too many years dormant, it is finally time to unleash my Wrath (NGD!!)

And here the full shot, of course. :friday: BC9.jpg

Some of you may remember this thread from 2006... www.seymourduncan.com/forum/showthread.php?73646-DHL-brought-me-a-big-box-today-lotsa-big-PICS!!!!!

Finally the Brobucker has a home. And what a home it is. Finished in Tru-oil, doesn't feel or look brand new but was never supposed to. Plays really well, too. Still need to do the final setup tomorrow, but shes strung up with 13-60 in standard and sounds just massive. VEERY Evil, yesyesyes. :firedevil:

And she has a few tricks up her sleeve, too.

The volume pot is apparently broken. But that gives it a VERY cool function, a reverse tone control. I can "dial out" some of the thickness and chunk, but the guitar is essentially always on 10.

The miniswitch? Let´s see.. Zerb is an insane Metalhead, and boosts high output pickups before slamming high gain preamps with them. Zerb is not the kind of person to buy a 10k PAF and say "Oh yeah, that`s more than enough output". But Zerb also hates pedals.....

So what could that POSSIBLY be? :firedevil:saeek:

Holy crap.... never even seen one of those before! Awesome looking beast though.

Re: After too many years dormant, it is finally time to unleash my Wrath (NGD!!)

A few things BC Rich Guys will probably catch real quick: The logo is way too big. That is intentional, so as to make it harder to pass of as a factory finished instrument (as many may remember, this is a real USA BC Rich, it was just never completed at the factory.). Same holds true for the finish, AFAIK BCRich never did oil finishes.

So anybody wanting to pass her off as a factory finished instrument will have to strip her bare, first. 30 coats of Tru-Oil, have fun:laugh2:. Oh, and that person will also find a nasty suprise (for a forger) in the trem and PU routs, too.

Now I just have to decide how exactly I want the Trussrod cover to look, if I mount one at all (the Oversize logo makes mounting a factory one impossible), and whether I want to just buy her a Coffin Case or build her one....

OH, Almost forgot: The neck still has the same back bow it always had, never got to use a press on it. But with my strings, it gomes forward into a perfect setup with like .10 mm of relief. Another little surprise for a thief /forger :headbang:

Ah cool. You could always use a piece of clear poly carb and paint the back black so it just covers the cavity and leaving the excess clear so it goesn't cover the logo if you know what I mean?

That looks awesome. I remember when you got that body.

Is the mini switch a blower switch?

For the truss rod cover, have one engraved with the word,"Khan", on it. Lol

Interesting pickup placement.

EMG PA-2 Afterburner, set for about 10dB of boost

Actually, I´m thinking of just leaving it open, but If I do makeone It wiill have the Zerb "Z" on it.

Interesting pickup placement.

Yes, thet was something Moose and I noticed way back when. It appears that there were a few singlehums in the ClassAxe period that had them placed about half an inch further forward than "standard", but it still isn´t seen often.

But from what I can gather there were less than 15 Wraths ever made, including this one, of which this is the only neckthru singlehum. I`ve accounted for 3 singlehum Bolt ons, 4 Dualhum Bolt ons (one of them plexiglass), and 3 Neckthru dualhums so far. But one of the bolt on singles has the same "advanced" pickup placement....

I really like the oil finish. Congrats! It looks BEASTLY!

Re: After too many years dormant, it is finally time to unleash my Wrath (NGD!!)

Like I said, she looks and feels like she´s 15-20 years old and well cared for, but not babied, which is essentially exactly what happened. But she´s been waiting a long time to be played and you can sense it when you pick her up.

I don`t really like the 1 5/8" nut.... On the other hand, the spacing at the bridge is a bit wider than even a Floyd, because of the forward mounted trembucker (or rather, that combined with me being anal about pole /string alignment). As a result she`s surprisingly comfortable and very fast. The buggered volume /now reverse tone control is a really awesome feature, makes the setup quite usable for clean tones by dialing out the warmth and thickness of the humbucker while leaving the output almost unchanged. In all honesty, if I knew how exactly I screwed up the pot (years ago, it was the last 500k pot I had in my parts bin), I`d be doing this on purpose from now on :chairfall

Oh, and the intonation is perfect, even though I didn´t touch a single screw on the Kahler yet.

There´s something really special about this one.... All of this makes for a guitar that´s really hard to put down

Holy Beelzebub Batman! Never seen one of those either. Very cool! Neck through body? Curious about the positioning of that bridge pickup. Is that a stock location Zerb?

Yes, she is neckthru, and all woodworking was done at the factory, I essentially just did the setup and finish. :)

Re: After too many years dormant, it is finally time to unleash my Wrath (NGD!!)

13s in standard? Beastly.

I was gonna say you installed an EMG Afterburner. Have to love a bit of ebony for the fingerboard :).

As for the screwed up pot - signature Zerb pot of wrath?

Re: After too many years dormant, it is finally time to unleash my Wrath (NGD!!)

Wow, I get crap for playing with 10s on 25.5" superstrats and you get away with 13s?

Very cool guitar and perhaps even cooler story.

Also pretty cool about the almost-volume pot, kinda makes you afraid of taking it out to study it in case you won't be able to get it to work again the way it does now :9:

Enjoy her in good health man!!! :headbang:
