STRATDELUXER97
Stratoblaster Tone Meister
Went back in...Put the black wire over to the switch, white to ground, baseplate ground wire was moved over to the white side also..
I now have proper phase in the 4th position...Still seem to get the best balance with my middle and neck surfers by having the TB adjusted to 3/32" on both E strings with both strings depressed at the highest frets...
This pickup is very cool...It has some good lowend balls, more mids..The mids are nice and cutting and the pickup is pretty present but not shrill or ice picky...It's amazing how articulate this pickup is also, but yet it grows some teeth if you dig in hard..The 4th position is slightly lacking in giving that nice vintage tone I got with the Surfer bridge in that the mids dominate that position a bit..You still get quack but it's not with the highs being as dominant and the tone is beefier..I notice I can fix this tone just by bringing my volume down a bit on my guitar or I'll bring my middle pickup down a bit more...This pickup is pretty loud and I ended up bringing my neck pickup up a bit more to get a better volume balance...Doesn't take much to drive an amp when you dig in but yet you still retain alot of note clarity..I remember Jeremy and Lew stating something pretty similar to my findings? You can volume down on your guitar and get squeeky clean strat bridge tones...Turn the volume up to 10 and you get clean, loud, fullness of tone due to the way the lows and mids work together but still with plenty of highend jangle...I still have to throttle my master tone control back just a bit to take some of the presence away from ripping my face off! :burnout: I love mixing the Blender pot with this pickup, but it isn't as necessary as it was with the thinner sounding Surfer in the bridge...I Like the Surfer but the TB looks like it will serve my styles better...
This pickup is fairly aggressive(In a Tele way) I guess? It's the mids and the output and aggression that sets it apart from just another stock bridge pickup in a strat...A real nice mixture of vintage presence and jangle with the midrange bite and chunk, and more output of a good Tele pickup...I Like it already..Very cool pickup indeed....Thanks again to MRID for the great price on a great sounding pickup...
