Was wondering the tonal diffeences between these two in a pup? Can anyone compare the two? Was also wondering how alnico 8 will sound in a pup thats not too hot (8-10k) compared to how the same pup would sound with alnico 2's.

Pretty big difference there. I tend to think of an A8 like a bigger, smoother ceramic. A2's are a bit softer on the highs and lows.

WICKED LESTER once said the A8 is all the best of the A2, A5, and Ceramic without any of the downsides. I would kind of agree.

A8 is so strong and plump in the lower mids that it always sounds big and strong. Hard to explaion, but you get that A2 sponge but a too much thickness for me. It never sounds as open, sweet, and twangy. A2's and A3's are a fave for me these days.
