Alright, can someone put a list together for me?

Duck yeah lil puff!

How many bits of wood are joined together to make that body? Looks good.

Re: Alright, can someone put a list together for me?

What would anyone here suggest to fill in the dings and dents? Would it be alright to prime it, use bondo, sand it, prime it, fill in the holes if any are left with spot filler, then repeat the sanding and priming?

Now is the time to use sanding sealer. If the dings are small it should fill them. Then comes the primer part. use the spot filler after if need be.

Alright. After we do the sanding sealer, then do we still use bondo? or just sand and prime?

Ive used both the products with good success

I know bondo makes a wood filler i definitely wouldnt use car bondo on it. Car bondo doesnt expand and contract so well and winds up pulling off wood over time.

1. sanding sealer, sand, re-coat, sand.

2. primer, wet sand, primer wet sand. etc

3 spot filler ''if it needs it''

Just treat it like a car paint job after the sealer part.

Unfortunately I just looked and we don't have any sanding sealer at the moment.... Should we just wait until we can get some? Or will it be OK to just fill in the only one real ding spot filler?

Well its not so much for the dings but rather the pores in the wood grain. Paint tends to sink into them over time and if the body isn't sealed you will notice it in the final finish. You should be able to find it at any hardware store.

And... I go downstairs to look and it already has its first coat of primer on it..

Oh well it might be fine as it was sealed at the factory. I cant wait to see it.

Let's hope it's alright! This is probably the most exited I've been in awhile actually. I'll try to take a pic once while it just has primer on it just to keep pics coming in. How many times would you say prime and wet sand? 5? 6? More? less? My father probably knows I just feel like asking something on here again for no reason I guess..

Re: Alright, can someone put a list together for me?

Progress update: No, we haven't stopped working on it, but on the weekdays, (And sometimes the weekends) there's not that much daylight time that my father is around so it's really like a coat of primer a day so we're on the 3rd coat. Should next 1-2 days until it starts getting painted. :D In your opinion should the headstock be the exact same colour as the body? Or what? Actually now that I think about it, I'm not sure what to do with the headstock...
