Alternatives to Buying "Reason"

Guys, I just can't make myself spend $400 on Propellerheads Reason.

Help me out --- it's the best, and the Reason demo I have is the only program that will run with low enough latency for me to actually play pads and keys and record them without the killer delay that throws me off.

I have Ableton Live Lite and FL Studio 8 (demo) and Reason 4.0 is just better.

Help me out --- any way around it, or do I just need to start saving?

I know the answer to the question, I am just frustrated :laugh2:

Re: Alternatives to Buying "Reason"

Computer Music gives away a full suite of software for making tracks with each issue of the magazine. It's not up to Reasons level but you could still work. I don't think there is problem with most software getting the latency down? Though I haven't had to set up a system in years so...

There are also a ton of free soft synths out there start here: http://www.kvraudio.com/

Let's pretend I'm an idiot with recording software, which I am.

What is Reason?

What does it do?

Are you still trying to use your stock sound card to do it?

Re: Alternatives to Buying "Reason"

I have Reason but I still find myself using Rebirth for that kind of stuff. I have a couple of mods that are really cool for RB338, plus I'm so used to it.

Anyway - pm me on Reason - may be able to help you out.
