The thing you run into is that most strat wiring schemes use only one cap.tone said:So 500k volume, 500k tone for humbucker, 250k tone for Neck single. Maybe a .047 on the neck, and 0.22 on the bridge?
tone said:Hey guys,
I forgot to mention that I'll be using these singles along with a EVH '78. So the pots I was going to use will be 500K's. I was tempted to try the SSL-1's for a closer to SRV type tone when on the neck pickup, but im afraid it will be too bright with the 500k pots. I'm guessing the extra mids in the APS-1 will control some of the brightness of the pots, but would I see a big difference in high end between the SSL, and APS when using 500k pots?

You'll have to work up a different circuit, or look it up. Shouldn't be too difficult. Artie can help you, I can help if I can look at something or draw it out.

If you went with all 250K it wouldn't be too bad. IIRC VH used 250Ks on the old frankenstrat. Right now I'm using 250Ks in my PRS with good effect. You definitely get a warmer tone.

As for pots, I was always under the impression that the first frankenstrats were 250k pots...but I, nor anyone else around here, is an expert on EVH's gear. He's contradicted himself in interviews more time than your average politician from arkansas...
