Am I being a big baby about hanging my guita on a wall hanger?

Re: Am I being a big baby about hanging my guita on a wall hanger?

As a guy who plays a lot more when the guitars are out, I don't know that it's so much an effort thing as it is "out of sight, out of mind". Seeing a guitar will prompt me to play a lot more than seeing a guitar case, especially since my guitar cases tend to be put away.

That's exactly how I am. I play a lot more when I can just grab one right away and play for a few minutes.
Not to mention it's a lot less cluttered when you get rid of stuff sitting around on the floor.

Yeah, if my guitars are out it makes grabbing them for 5-10 minutes between work much easier.

I'm with Evan.

But it's also a storage problem with me. Not enough space for all of my guitars in cases and in closets (or anywhere else). I keep 16 hanging on the wall, 3 "special" ones in locked display cases on a wall, a dozen in stands right next to my playing area, and a half dozen in their cases in a couple closets.

The ones hanging on the walls get rotated regularly with the ones in my playing area. I love them all and play them all and want them handy. Besides, they are just fun and fulfilling to look at...can't do that if they are all in cases.

Guitar Center and similar stores have 400 guitars hanging ont he wall, for weeks at a time, regardless of price. I don't think you have to worry about anything.

I agree 100% that guitar look awesome on the wall. Why keep them in their case? Cases are for protection when transporting guitars.

The hooks on all my hangers are the open kind where the tubing is made out of graphite-coated Teflon. You know -- the ones you probably looked at and thought, "I'm not hanging my Telecasters on those."

Any hook that swivels will hang a Tele just fine. The only hooks that won't work are those rigid ones used with slat walls.

I use wall hangers for mandolins, fiddles but my electric gtrs sit in rock stands.
Acoustic gtrs almost always go back in their cases except for one dobro and an older Gibson J45 which has already had repair cracks and lots of chips.

When I think about what a guitar goes through, on stage, in the hands of a "rocker", I'm thinking the wall-hanging is probably a nice vacation for it.
