Amp engineers - 6L6 in a 5F1 amp

Is there a way to use a 6L6 as the power tube in a 5F1 amp? Would like to get the 7-12 Watts from a 6L6 vs the 5-7 Watts from a 6V6 that is standard for the 5F1.

you can put a 6l6 in but itll still be running at low voltages and the output transformer is still the same. itll sound different, probably cleaner and bigger but only a touch louder

Yeah, I kinda figured I'd need a different xfmr and circuit if I wanted to get the 6L6 output. Never hurts to ask.

You can just drop a JJ 6v6 in there. They are much closer in sound and headroom to a 6l6 than a 6v6.

i use permanetly a vintage Tung-Sol 5881 in my 5F1 clone. i use the 8 ohm output tap on the OT with the 4 Ohm speaker. To lower the filament current i changed the light bulb to a LED - helps to keep filament winding on the PT cool.

Tried the 6L6, blew the fuse...must draw too mush current from my pwr xfmr. Not going to upgrade the xfmr, just stick with the 6V6, sounds nice, just not as loud as I would like it to be. Maybe next project will be for a dual 6L6 or 6V6 amp build.
