Amp for Gary Moore Tone?

Re: Amp for Gary Moore Tone?

Gary Moore is a bit of a gear whore really.
Not so much on pedals, but you can bet he's tried pretty much every type of amp out there, and used quite a few as well.
Lets face it, he was one of the few people who ever owned a synthaxe.
Oddly, he always sounds like Gary Moore :)

Re: Amp for Gary Moore Tone?

So, a Les Paul. Into a 1959SLP reissue with an old Guv'nor would do the trick nicely?

There were also Strats, Super Strats, Hamers... there's a lot of info about his gear on Wikipedia and other forums/websites. He also used other Marshalls and probably a few other brands as well.

I think that he is more of a Tube Screamer guy than anything else but I don't think that the pedal choice is the most important thing here. I'd stick to the Boss, Marshall and Ibanez lines (or Maxon if you want something a little more expensive).

And don't forget the delay.

If I were to do it - a Les Paul and a Marshall, two dirt boxes (a smoother TS and a dirtier distortion box) and a delay pedal.
