A buddy of mine just phoned me to say a guy he works with just found some sort of amp in the Garbage..... He couldn't tell me much about it as he is a drummer and has no idea what guitar amps are out there.... he will send me a photo of it tomorrow so i can have a good look... all he could tell me is it is a HEAD type amp with no speakers.... he thinks it's solid state as there is no tubes..... On the front there is Distortion, reverb, and EQ controlls.

The only markings on the amp he said is PRO-212..... no company name...

Re: Amp found in garbage

The only PRO-212 amps I know of are old Carlsbro amps and Peavey's. Are you going to end up with it?

Re: Amp found in garbage

but in most instances wouldn't a name like "Pro 212" indicate 2 12" speakers? It's just curious ya know? typically a number after the amp model indicates either wattage, speakers, or both.

Re: Amp found in garbage

The PRO-212 markings have thrown me for a loop..... i can't wait to see the photos... Saddly he has no camera at work today so i'll have to wait a day or 2 until i get more info....

Not sure if i'll end up with the amp or not... it was found by one of the truck drivers at my buddies work so it belongs to him...

Re: Amp found in garbage

Only thing I can think of is a Peavey transefx Pro 212. But I don't think they are blue.

Re: Amp found in garbage

sounds like the Peavey transfex to me...i used to have one...in the head version with a 4x12 cab...VERY LOUD its stereo with 2x130watts!

crap load of onboard effects...

Re: Amp found in garbage

I had a similar experience once when I was just starting out in the guitar world. When I learned of tube amps I wanted one really bad. One day while at a buddies house I noticed that this old ugly Fender amp of his had tubes in it(along with bugs, rat turds and 20 years of dust). I traded him a crybaby wah and then never really touched the amp because it needed work and I had no $$$ or knowledge of how to fix it. Turns out to be an early 70s Princeton Reverb!!

Re: Amp found in garbage

Wasn't the "Deacy" amp which Brian May uses and John Deacon rebuilt found in the garbage?

Re: Amp found in garbage

My brother Bruce (http://www.missionamps.com) and I used to do kitchen and bath remodeling and we'd take stuff to the landfill often. One day we were at the landfill and saw this old pickup truck driving around looking for a spot to unload and there was an old amp bouncing around on top of the trash the guy had cleaned out of garage. Turned out to be a late 50's Fender Tremolux with the original tweed! You're not supposed to salvage things at the dump...but you can bet I salvaged that! Didn't even need much work to get it up and running...just a few tubes as I recall. What a score! Lew

Re: Amp found in garbage

^LOL^

Your reminded me of the folks who build their houses near landfills and then complain about the smell...

Re: Amp found in garbage

A guy on a Dutch forum I'm a moderator of once found a white Marshall SLP reissue halfstack in garbage (right before the garbage truck personnel could get hold of it, lol). Now THAT is luck! His neighbour apparently had thrown it away, as 'the damn thing won't make any sound anymore!'. It turned out to have a blown fuse :laugh2: . He got to keep it.

Re: Amp found in garbage

My friend found his dads old ibanez pedal....a yellow flanger! This hting is DEFINALTY from the 70's (possibly 80's?) and I'm a dip**** and got excited about it so I couldnt screw him over. He also claims his dad has an old amp but he doesnt know what kind! I want to go see and if its decent I'll try and get it off of him...hopefully sell it

Re: Amp found in garbage

I just don't see how someone can throw something out without doing a little research to see if they have something of value...

Re: Amp found in garbage

Well my buddy sent me some photos of the amp head today.... Strange cheap late 60's early 70's looking beast... Has that really cheezy looking vinyl fake leatherette that was huge in the early 60's.... No idea what it could be! Kind of looks like an old ACOUSTC company product or something..... The front panel says PRO 412 not Pro 212 like i said above....

I have no idea how to post a photo on this site either..... If anyone on this site is willing to post a photo i'll e-mail the 2 pictures i have of the amp....
