Amp Profiles

Ok I have recently began my obsession with amp profiles

I was wondering
Outside of a recording studio

How many of you would need a profile

I mean I could profile my amps here at the house

I could also just plug into the amps here at the house

It would be easier to record them from a modeled profile

I don't record that much either
The most recording I would do would probably be using the profile process

When you make a profile wouldn't you want to set the knobs at noon so you would tweak each preset to taste?
The preamp models that come with my modeling pedal are kinda extensive

With a good selection of amps and tones I probably will never use

I noticed online that the next model up from my new pedal has tone capture or profiling for only twice as much as mine

For three times the price of my current one
There is one that does the stand alone profile like Kemper does

They are fairly accurate according to YT

But for me
As a bedroom player
With few big brand name amps
I do have one or two

Would it make sense to get a profiler?

Unless you have a super unique setup that you absolutely can't replicate with something similar, I wouldn't waste the time and resources trying to profile your own stuff.

Also, if you're not recording anything and you're not playing out, I can't see much benefit to swapping out your existing amps for profiled versions at home, unless volume is an issue and, even then, there are other tools available for that.

In your case, I say don't waste the money. There are far too many time and financial sinkholes for us poor players to fall into these days!

Thanks

My obsessive nature is strong

But it's my own fault

The hard marketing on YT is getting to me

Latest and greatest

If i were touring
Or gigging
Recording

I have too many guitars as well

I profile stuff before I sell it, so that I can still get close to that sound, somehow. And I would profile it set up to sound it's best, because you aren't really profiling the individual controls, so you can't tweak those controls later. You are profiling that amp setup how you like it, then your guitar and how you set it's knobs is the only wild duck in the equation.

The key to the sound I like isn't difficult...a cleanish amp with reverb and a nice overdrive and I am happy. I can get a sound I like through almost any gear, really...most of it is in the playing itself. But I could see the value of getting a setup I like, then modeling it in a single pedal to plug into a PA. It would lighten the load for a lot of gigs.
