Amp recommendation

Sold my Fender BB30r several months ago when I was in a pinch. Planning on doing a little amplifier shopping soon.

Think I wanna go with a different amp this time and wanna know if anyone has a good recommendation for what I'm looking for.

I use an epiphone Les Paul with a Duncan jazz(b) in the neck with a thick SD custom shop bridge humbucker (a5 12.0k)

Decent clean tone with a wide enough range of usable gain. GnR, modern ZZ Top, Jeff Healey, that also does classic rock overdrive and slower blues.

Not sure if you have a price range in mind or if you want another combo. However, based on your desired tone I would suggest you look into the Marshall Origin series, the Peavey Classic series, and the Blackstar HT series. I have owned a Classic 50 and HT-Club 40 and tested the Origin. All had very nice clean tones and a wide range of usable gain. The Club 40 had way more gain that I needed but did very well at lower gain.

Mesa Mark's are great amps. You may also really like the triple crown as well. If I were in your position, that would be my grab for a bang for the buck amp.

They seem to be killer amps. Just dont have the experience with them and many others. I'll check these out. Thanks

it really is a swiss army knife of an amp

The Mesa Mark V series is really incredible. As long as you don’t need an exact Marshall crunch, they do it all.

Check hit the Haggerty’s Music demos when the Mark V was released. It’s an 8 part series, then there’s one on C90 vs V30 and 6L6 vs EL34.

Absolutely. In fact one of the things that impressed me the most about it was its non high gain rock/crunch tones. The amp really does do it all.

The Peavey Classic 30 is a good one, though it needs a boost to reach "modern high gain distortion",

the Blackstars who have digital reverb, be aware that the reverb sounds like arse (to my ears)-
but they're great bang for the buck.

Thanks, man. I plugged into a Blackstar a few years ago at GC and thought it was a pretty damn good amp.

Sure thing. If you are looking for a combo, Guitar Center has a used one that looks to be in excellent condition for a good price. They can ship it to you, you can try it and have 30 or 45 days (I forget which one) to decide if you like it. You can also have it shipped to your local Guitar Center if you have one. As long as you are in the return timeframe, it is a simple return, no questions asked if you decide you don't like it.

Additionally, Guitar Center and Musician's Friend are the same company. If you buy something online from MF you can also return it to GC. If you are looking at used items, sometimes items pop up faster on one website than the other but for the most part they share inventory. If you are looking for anything used, it makes sense to check both websites to cover all your bases.
