That's a good price for a Jet used. I'm assuming it's a re-issue with EL84 tubes, right? If you have a good humbucker guitar, it will sing. The tubes take a beating in those amps, so you should look into some new ones, and some tube damper rings as well. Also, the cab might rattle unless all the screws are nice and tight, so if it does, try that first.

They were Ampeg's best amp of the Diamond Blue Series IMHO. I've had mine since '95, and only recently had to do any work on it (new speaker and reverb tank). They sound great. Be aware that there are two models, though. One has tremolo and a single tone knob. The other has no tremolo, and bass, mid, and treble tone knobs. To my mind, $180 is a steal if all is working.

If you have a chance on an original, then snap it up and get it fixed. I would think there's bound to be something wrong, or he wouldn't be selling a '60's model for 180.
