What's the tone difference? Both seem like they are just wax potted PAF type pickups with alnico 5 mags. Also, I don't know why Gibson puts alnico II mags in their 60's SG reissues when I heard that they switched to alnico 5 mags during the 60s. Like all the Explorers, V's, and SGs had Alnico 5's I heard. You can hear the bright treble and mid scoop of the alnico 5 if you listen to AC/DC records; definitely not buttery mids like the 57 classics. I do think the 57's actually work good for Van Halen type stuff though, the mids seems to pop the harmonics out smoother then a 59. The 59 is more aggressive. What's up with the Angus Young signature? Is it just modeled after PAFs that got a alnico 5's in his SG? It would seem smarter and more economical to just buy a set of duncan 59's if you wanted that tone then. I just wanted to know because I am replacing my Blackouts in my faded Les Paul guitar because the output and sustain don't seem to go well with it's super light chambered body, but it's characteristics I think would make a good straight rock guitar.
