Another HSS question...best trembucker fit with Dimarzio Areas

So I'm looking to upgrade/change pickups in a G&L Legacy (alder body, maple neck). I've decided on Dimarzio Area 58's for neck and middle (they are incoming...not in the guitar yet), and I'm trying to find the right bridge trembucker to pair with them. The current bridge is the SD TB-4, but it seems a little too hot/modern for my taste. I was thinking the SD '59 might balance better and have a more vintage vibe, but I'm open to suggestions from those more knowledgeable. Anyone have experience with this combination? Suggestions for a better match?

I play in a cover band and at church....mainly classic rock, blues, new country, a little R&B and contemporary Christian. Would appreciate any input...

Thanks....

DiMarzio 36th Anni or 36th Anni Bridge. Or wait about a month for their new 59 PAF to be released. Those should go good with those singles and for the type of music mentioned.

If it was me, I'd throw a patb3 in there. Great pup!

If you want a vintage vibe with a touch of modern, check out the 59/Custom Hybrid. It also splits well for some nice quacky tones. It works really well in an HSS guitar.

Thanks for all the suggestions...will definitely look into them. Wondering if anyone has actually used the SD '59 and Area '58 combination?

My orange Strat has a pair of Area '67s with a '59/Custom Hybrid in the bridge. It's an unbelievably sexy setup that works very well for me in my band, which is very '80s pop-rock influenced complete with keytarist, and with my obsession with Van Halen. It's really versatile beyond that, too, covering modern rock as well as classic stuff.

HSS humbucker? That's a Screamin' Demon in my book.

The Perpetual Burn would probably work well, too.

How much of a volume difference do you get from neck to bridge?

Re: Another HSS question...best trembucker fit with Dimarzio Areas

I use a Jazz bridge in my HSS setup and love it. My personal favorite and most undiscovered Duncan pickup. It not too hot, it's open and cuts like a single when clean and takes all the gain you can throw at it. You can roll off the volume when using high gain and get a nice usable clean tone.

GilmourD........ I very much Approve !!!

Re: Another HSS question...best trembucker fit with Dimarzio Areas

The Area 58 neck pickup is nice fat sounding strat pickup. I think it would combine well with a lot of Vintage PAF humbuckers, especially those using A2 or A4 magnets.
I have a pair of Area 58s in combination with a Suhr Thornbucker bridge pickup. The levels balance well between neck and bridge, which is a bit unusual for a HSS setup.

Re: Another HSS question...best trembucker fit with Dimarzio Areas

A great pickup that would fit the bill that rarely gets talked about is the Dimarzio EJ Custom Bridge! I have one and it has such a beautiful jangly vibe with great amount of warmth and harmonics. It is a low output humbucker so it'll certainly balance very well with your Areas. For the genres you play it'll do very well while giving you a unique tone.

I have the Fred paired with the Are58, and the Air Zone paired with the Area 67. I like both pairings.
