Another Screamin' Demon in the neck thread

Re: Another Screamin' Demon in the neck thread

I watched that demo too. That made me really go, hmmmm.

ErikH, you should post a sound clip or video demonstrating the dual SD combo, including split, please please please

Best I can do is an audio clip. No split though because I didn't wire either one to split.

Nice. Ya the Liquifire blew my mind in the split department. Lots of clarity. I just didn't like it for an overall neck pickup.

That's where the Demon took over. I want a WLH neck next.

Which Iceman do you have? I have one with a Super D and Air Norton. Killer guitar.

Its an awesome pickup for sure–I am really intrigued about the Demon in the neck though. I first used the Liquifire in a Jackson I bought with the John Petrucci pickup set in it...didn't really care for the CrunchLab but loved the Liquifire.

I nearly got the WLH for a strat project I just finished...sounds like an amazing pickup set.

I have the ICX120, a cheaper one but I loved the neck on it–different from most Ibanez guitars I've played. The Pickups sound amazing in the Basswood. My dad has a Demon in an old Mahogany Charvel that sounds amazing but I think it sounds best in Basswood.

Interesting you find that imbalance with the A2Pro. I had Slash neck installed with the Demon and they played really well together.

I thought I'd dig having a creamy neck pickup and a super crunchy bridge, but the imbalance is way too big.
The A2Pro always sounds boomy next to the Demon which is as sharp as a mofo.

I'm not sure whether to drop a 250k volume pot on the Demon, or a A8 magnet maybe. I've got one around.
Maybe a Custom Custom?

Or I could forget about the A2Pro.
The stock neck pickup in my Ibanez is great actually, less smooth and flavor maybe, it lacks the A2 note bloom,
but it's tighter and brighter. It would balance with the Demon for sure.

The Demon is bright, but I'm not finding it very sharp myself. In fact, in the guitar I have it in, alder body and maple neck, it sounds huge. I think with the Slash being a bit brighter than the stock A2Pro, that may have helped it balance better with the Demon.

I agree, I would not call the Demon sharp–brighter yes, but not sharp.

What about pairing it with a JB?...or is the high output not a good match for the medium output?

What do you think of the clean sound of the Air Norton?

It's great. Air Norton is pretty tame pickup overall. It will not drive your amp. Handles gain really well. Classic DiMarzio neck lead tone.

Def has its own voice.

Nice man. Ya I love my Iceman. I ended up getting a Demon for my Destroyer, Invader bridge. Definitely a sick setup

Here's a quick clip that I recorded using AmpliTube. It's the "Almost Clean" preset. I go between bridge, middle and neck positions and even roll the tone back on the neck.
