antiquity pickups more microphonic than others?

I remember reading something online once that said the antiquity pickups are more prone to being microphonic then say the other SD single coils and humbuckers... due to some of the materials used to make them... is this true?

Re: antiquity pickups more microphonic than others?

I've experienced no problems with the Antiquity 1's in my friend's 57 strat and we play pretty loud. Also, I had a set of Seth's in my Sheraton (also not wax potted) and never had a problem with uncontrollable feedback. You could get feedback, but it's feedback you can use. ;)

i have had no problems with the single coils. i will tell you my opinion on the buckers tomorrow or wednesday.

Re: antiquity pickups more microphonic than others?

If the issue you're talking about is the lack of wax potting on the Antiquity humbuckers...

I have a set of Seths in my Les Paul, which (like the Ants) are not wax potted. I play them loud through a 50 watt Marshall and I've never had any problems with microphonic squealing, or any feedback I didn't want.

Non-potted pickups are more microphonic than potted ones. That's why potting was developed. But microphony, in my experience, is only a problem if you play insanely loud or with an insane amount of gain. ;)

Re: antiquity pickups more microphonic than others?

And well-made unpotted pickups (like Antiquities) have more issues than crappy unpotted ones.

I have a 8.70 59b that is more microphonic (at insane volume levels!!!) than my 8.75K a5 antiquity hb! ;)

just installed my set of antitquity humbuckers and tried them at full gain and volume on my soldano and they held up perfectly. Beautiful full distortion and very clear ringing notes. you should have no problem
