Not a fan of either. Ant's have aged (degaussed) A2 magnets, which gives them a weaker sound (fully charged A2's are pretty low output to begin with). Never bonded with PG's. To me, the neck is too warm and rounded & the bridge is too bright. Some players like a big difference in EQ between bridge and neck PU's, I'm not one of them.
I am a big fan of Seth's and A2P's however, two more of Duncan's PAF-ish A2 pickups. Always work well for me.

They say so, but little more turns of wire on the coils of the Ants. Another point is, that the Seth are said to have matched coils. The original PAFs had randomly matched coil from different batches and the Ants should therefore have slightly mismatched coils, too.

the seth was made to be the ideal paf that seth lover designed, matched coils. the actual pafs that came out had a good amount of variation since coils had different #'s of turns and two coils were grabbed and thrown together to make a pup. the ant's ive owned have all had coils that seemed matched but had more turns of wire than the seth

But i prefer the PG's by some margin
I have a CS set in one LP, and a standard set in another guitar, and they are both my favourite sounding guitars.

Yes, they are both great. i've owned and played both and even though they are both excellent pickups, they sound very different to each other.

The Pearly Gates neck has got to be one of the best neck pickups I've ever had, period. They can be a bit dark in a 24.75" scale guitar, but in a Strat they have pretty close to the perfect EQ. Slightly rounded highs, a raunchy upper mid hump, and a lack of the overzealous bass that can plague certain neck pickups. I actually find that they bond better with the Custom Shop version of the Pearly Gates as opposed to the production model, which is kind of odd.

I'm aiming at set vs set. I want to put them in the C-1 Classic (maple/walnut neck through mahogany wings and rosewood board), since I have two metal guitars now. Didn't want to be too specific as to get a wider opinion as to why either or. What's your expierience with them, or what else would you recommend? I've read Seth/Ant neck and a PG bridge would be great for a little more versatility. According to videos and samples here, Seths and Ants are pretty close, but I feel that Ants sound sweeter.

I've found if I roll the tone back to 7-8 then a PG sounds like any other good LP/PAF to me, but I have the option of some top end I can bring back in if I'm running into a dark amp or in a dark/non-reflective room. The PG neck isn't warm to me. It's chimy and blends well with the bridge. The only better necks IMO are the Jazz, Seth or 496R. The wiring type (50s/Modern) and pots (500k vs 300k) have an affect on how they sound, so that is probably why you hear mixed opinions on the same pickup.
