Re: Any Dean Cadillac lover?

That natural is great. I've always liked these the best of Deans. The RC models are great too.

Re: Any Dean Cadillac lover?

Do not believe they have a trademark on any particular shape. I have Deans, import and US made with various shapes. Usually an import with a V cut is part of a custom limited run. They stick to a medium C shape for the most part on standard issue runs across the models it seems. That has been my experience. I have custom run Korean made Dean ML from 2004 that has a mild V to it. I like that in a guitar so that was an added feature to me.

This. I also think the Soft V shape is saved for special runs, LTD edition, etc. As far as USA Dean Hardtail's go, most are a medium to thin C shape. The Collector's Editions and Exotic Collection have the soft V. Personally, I love the soft V neck from Dean.

You can think of them a bit like a C shape, but with the shoulders of the C shaved down on both sides. The V necks don't come to a point at the bottom of the neck. It's a subtle V, but you can feel right away that the shoulders are missing. That's what I notice the most. I still have one Hardtail with a soft V, but it is especially subtle. I had another Hardtail that I sold that had a perfect V neck. Most of the V's are on the thinner side, that I've played; at least 2002 and forward.

@Cadillac dude: Next on the list is triple bucker 30th anniv Caddy. Gonna take some work to make it PINK.

Oh STOP it!! I don't even like Vs and I love it. But I like Zs. Everybody's weird. Lay off my head stock or you could be next.

Re: Any Dean Cadillac lovers?

Hated that headstock for 25 years until I bought my first one in 2003. After you play it for 5 minutes you realize it is not what you might have thought it would be or as big as it looks either.

Thanks!
It’s lots of fun. Especially when you have a crowd that is digging what you’re doing. It makes it all worthwhile.
It’s a lot more work than most people realize.
